Monday 9th - Glasgow
Off to Glasgow for work from Monday afternoon to Thursday - Meeting all day Tuesday then out on the test train for work Wednesday and Thursday - It should be interesting...
July 7th - Concert!
Went to concert at Clere School - To listen to Luci and Ed play in their respective Brass Band. It was a good evening which started off with a BBQ. They were both so proud of what they did - Luci especially!! Ed was as usual a lot quieter! Unfortunately I enver took any photos as it wasn't that easy to see them.
Thursday July 5th - Football Match Engineering Vs Consents/LPDO
I must have been mad - Got persuaded to go and watch the football - Lucky I had a camera which made me even more popular! As it was to be held at Paddington recreation Ground I kind of assumed it was in walking distance - Only to find out we had to get the tube! Bizarre!
Well when we left Paddington Station it was dry - By the time we got to the footie it was bucketing down with rain, my new short hair suffered. As Patrick said to me later in the pub "Did you go and get your hair permed at half time?!"
Of course we had to go to the pub after the game...only to find the local tube shut (Maida Vale) at 10.30pm - so walked back to Paddington, home about 12.50am!!! Bus from Reading to Thatcham...great!!

July 3rd - Engineering Challenge Day
A different day at work!
Went to a Private Girls School at the Barbican to help out with an Engineering Challenge day that they were holding.
22 teams of 5 girls (a couple of teams had less) 11-12 years olds creating a structure that a hockey ball could be dropped down and had to make noises/do things on the way down. Some very creative structures.
Why did I go? Because I was a female engineer and was mean to be an example to them!! Not certain about that!....but the day was fun

June 28th - Gothenburg
Long weekend away in Gothenburg, Sweden, staying with Karen.
Had a lovely weekend, wandered around the city, went out on the Friday night, on Saturday we went shopping (How many H&Ms??), in the evening went to the 23rd Floor of local hotel for dinner which was yummy.
Sunday - Gothenburg has the second largest theme park in Sweden, Liseberg. Liseberg is combines all the fun of the fair with gardens and trees - So spending a whole day thre was very, very easy, great how many rollercoasters you can go on! Queues were pretty short, towards the end we were going back on Rollercoasters ith queues of 10 mins, until I felt a bit ill!
For dinner we had a traditional Swedish meal.
The flight home was a little shock - Swedish time up 4.30am, UK 3.30am! Landed at Heathrow at 7.50am, in office for work by 9.30am - Perfect!
A bit of History on Gothenburg
Gothenburg, or G ö teborg as it's spelt locally, lies on the west coast of Sweden and is the country's second largest city with a population of 450,000. People have lived in the area for thousands of years, but after the Danish burnt it down, the King of Sweden, Gustav II Adolf, decided to rebuild the city in 1621. His statue of him pointing [He is saying, 'Build me a city here'. ] at the ground exactly where he wanted it, can be found in the centre of the city. Gothenburg is built up around the mouth of the river G ö ta Ä lv as it pours out into the sea. Previously, the harbour was key to the city's development, but Gothenburg today is known mainly for Volvo, being the city where this car first rolled off the production line. The company headquarters are still there.
